OUR APPROACH

​We like to take a communicative approach to our teaching.  We focus on designing interactive and enjoyable lessons that help learners of all ages to improve their skills and gain confidence in using French for effective communication.  

To prepare our class we use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It is a tool developed by the Council of Europe to define the mastery of a foreign language like French, according to different criteria. Since 2001, this is a reference in the field of learning and teaching French. It will help you to self-assess your level.

You will find below a curriculum that we will adapt to the class depending the level of the students.

BEGINNER COURSE

This course is an introduction to the study of French for those who have had no previous contact with the language.
The course covers the basic points of French grammar.
 
The students will concentrate on four aspects of communication:
  • oral expression (speaking)
  • writing
  • oral comprehension (listening)
  • and reading on a basic level.
 
They will acquire basic knowledge of French culture.
 
Attention is given to correct pronunciation of French, with special emphasis on sounds that may be difficult for native speakers of English.
 
At the end of the term, you will be able to:
  • Introduce yourself and say where you come from
  • Give ans ask personal questions
  • Use common greetings and good-byes
  • Talk about what you like and dislike
  • Use the numbers

ELEMENTARY COURSE

Course requirement:
- be able to introduce yourself  and ask questions
- be able to talk about your family, friends, like, dislike, holiday...
​- be able to  relate past and future events
